“I wrote and produced this track especially for The Rising Sun Collective’s ‘Emo’ Compilation’. As soon as I heard the theme “Emo” I thought, ok so how does BYFYN do “Emo” and what does it mean to me? My gut reaction was that in its simplest form it meant “emotional”, so how was I feeling right then at that point? And with that I went into my studio and wrote and produced the track in one sitting! I didn’t realise or question what I was truly expressing until I had finished it. Upon reflection I realised it was about the constant battle I face with my inner saboteur, the evil little voice that berates and criticises from the hidden lofty nooks of my mind. Through this track I wanted to exorcize the pure frustration and rage that sometimes comes with “being stuck in your own head”. It can leave you feeling like you truly are your own worst enemy and that is tough to navigate!”
